Turkey has, obviously, a leadership with a clear vision. The Turkish Prime Minister appears to be a leader with a mission. What seems to be his mission is the establishment of Turkey as a World Class power. How he goes about it is a mater of concern lately, but one thing is certain, he has a plan. His plan began unfolding years ago when he assumed the leadership of the country, leaving in place all the economic reforms that had been started with the intention to modernize its Economy and bring to the surface Turkey’s Economic Potential. Subsequently he continued invigorating the Turkish Economy with Privatizations. He, furthermore, began kindling the country’s Entrepreneurial Potential. The result was a National Mobilization to what became a National Goal … Prosperity. People from the poor Eastern provinces started out in Business, succeeding to elevate themselves to a better life, many to riches. The country’s Government was on their side in everyway it could, liberalizing its Economy and promoting Trade with a focus on Exports. It guided and supported the Entrepreneurial efforts of the emerging class of new Entrepreneurs, while doing all what was necessary to attract Foreign Investment, thus revving up the country’s growth and setting it on an ascension course.

The Turkish Prime Minister wants to see Turkey become the Tenth largest Economy in the world by 2023, when Turkey will celebrate the centennial of its Secular democracy, an aspiration that may well become a fact.

Greece? The country is wallowing in misery. It has what can legally be called a Government, alas not one that leads. Its so called government has no vision and its mission seems to be government for its own sake.

It undertakes to restructure the economy, reduce the size of the public sector, maintain the deficit to the agreed figure and then … it goes on vacation. When the “troika” comes to verify that Greece has done all what it should it discovers that the government has done nothing and instead it wants to re-negotiate what had been previously agreed. These morons are incapable of liberalizing the economy, opening up all the professions which are in a status of restrictions, privatizing public corporations and liberalizing the laws that regulate employment. They dare not reduce the public sector and to curtail the deficit they reduce incomes, thus accelerating the recession. With taxable incomes reduced they cover the tax deficit with levies of sorts, thus compounding the problem and bringing grief and despair to the people. Their actions have a devastating effect on the country because they are captives to a mentality they can not escape from. Laws are to be voted but not be put into effect. The interests of the “constituents” are of paramount importance, those of the country come second. To them every problem is to be addressed not with concern but with communicative trickery. Unreliable and inconsistent as they are they have lost the respect and confidence of the country’s partners. For two years the Eurozone has been keeping Greece afloat and Greece has kept delaying the materialization of its commitments. The Eurozone countries are fed up with Greece and are preparing its (orderly) default and expulsion from the Eurozone. If this happens what a fine service this miserable excuse of a government will have rendered to the country!

How does this band of nitwits compare to the Turkish Government? If Greece had a Government comparable to that of Turkey, the country would not be now in a state of insecurity and despair, close to being expelled from the Eurozone and the inevitable return to the Drachma … sheer catastrophy.

Only if the stop button of the elevator is pressed will the descent stop, but who is there to do it? The Greek so called government is obviously incapable of doing it .Only a miracle can save Greece, which can come out of nowhere, or out of social turmoil.

If only Greece had a Government as capable as that of Turkey.
