Your people were wondering why your close relationship with the USA does not translate to something beneficial for Greece. Now they know. The US wants a Middle East Security Zone and it brokered the marriage of Israeli to Greek and to Cypriot interests. The Israelis and the Cypriots have agreed on their “properties” and will set about bringing to the surface their Natural Gas which will then be used by them and Exported to Europe with Greece as a Hub from where it will flow to the various parts of Europe. Greece stands to gain a lot from this, Strategically and Economically. This may account for the courage you displayed in Erzerum telling the high level gathering of Turkish Diplomats, in the presence of the Turkish Prime Minister that, in as many words ,it takes two to do the Tango and constant provocations from Turkey do not help to establish peaceful cooperation between the two countries.Well Done. You talked like the Prime Minister of Greece that you are, when you take time out of your Duties as Chairman of the Socialist International.
Angela Merkel rushed to Cyprus to support President Christofias who, elated by the Chancellor’s support, told Turkey that it can no longer occupy half of Cyprus, a member of the EU whose door Turkey has been knocking for years, but to which it wants entry on Turkey’s terms, those of the EU being unacceptable to Turkey. Germany did not act without the behest of the good old USA and of course it secured the cooperation of Cyprus that will secure plenty of Natural Gas for Germany.
Greece and Cyprus are now becoming important to their allies. With Turkey suggesting no game unless it is part of it, the Israeli-Greek Cooperation is very important. Greece will benefit enormously from it.
A joint ministerial Committee will be meeting twice a year to coordinate the two Governments on matters of common interest. The Greeks have a lot to learn from the Israelis, on how to “Govern”. Mr. Papandreou, if you are a patriot you should not exclude from this excellent training sessions your opposite numbers in the opposition. If they too are exposed to the competence of the Israeli Government they will become a constructive force in Greek Politics.
A joint Tourism council will be established to promote the common interests of the two countries in this business endeavor. The Greeks stand to learn a lot from the Israelis, especially in the sector of High Income Tourism.
Israeli and Greek construction companies will construct the Pipeline which will bring the Israeli and Cypriot Natural Gas to Europe. This is good for the Greek Constructors.
High Tech Parks, as the Greeks call them, will be established in Greece so that Israeli and Greek companies can jointly develop Software The Israelis are very advanced in Hi-Tec, something that will rub on to their Greek associates.
Cooperation in the Banking sector is also in the plan. This is fantastically good news for Greece.
To ensure peace and prosperity in the region the Collaboration between the Israeli and the Greek Military will make it hard, or even impossible for anyone to interfere in matters that do not concern them. Talk, or even moves, of aggression will be dealt with, jointly. Excellent.
The Israelis will buy control of the Greek Defense Systems, which again is to the benefit of the Greeks whose taxes were covering its losses until now. The Israeli knowhow and proven competence will turn it to a paragon in its field for the benefit of both countries.
The Israelis will also buy in the Greek Air Industry to jointly with the Greeks develop defense systems for the Greek Jet-Fighters, the Greeks having been unable so far to do this for their Air force. The industry will also repair and service the F16s of both countries. Great.
The joint defense collaboration will also include the production of ammunition for the Greek Leopard Tanks which are useless without it.
The Israelis and the Greeks will also collaborate in matters of Intelligence and training to fight Terrorism. This will be of immense importance to Greece, given the world class expertise of the Mossad and the sorry state of its Greek counterpart, according to the Media and the Wiki-Leaks….leaks.
Mr. Papandreou. You gave your country a push forward with the mandates of the Memorandum you have signed with the EU and the IMF. Greece will radically change in the space of a year in ways that took its cohorts several years to bring about. The Greeks will hate this, now, but enjoy its benefits thereafter. Now you brought Greece close to a country of proven competence, technologically advanced and militarily potent. Even the US Financial circles will take notice and count this, to the benefit of Greece.
Those who are about to gain salute you . If the Israeli-Greek collaboration works out as well as it is intended the Greeks will hail you as a Great Statesman, but will it? or will it go the way the Greek compliance to the Memorandum seems to be going ….half (you know what).
